DNA is transcribed to mRNA, then translated to amino acid sequences (which eventually fold to become proteins) through a deterministic process. Sequences of three base pairs are mapped into one of twenty amino acids (with another combination indicating the end of a protein). The automatic codon chart replicates this mapping.
